How does a studio session work?
We will have a brief chat with you when you arrive – just to get an idea of what you are looking to achieve from your portrait session. We will shoot a range of pictures for you in various poses, moods and styles. We allow 45 minutes for the session, although it will not always take that long - depending on the age of your children and the extent of your requirements.
What happens at a studio session? If you can do it – we’ll photograph it! Basically, anything goes – standing, sitting, running, jumping, playing, posing, relaxing, hugging, kissing, laughing, smiling – we love to capture real emotions so that your portraits look natural. We do 'mean and moody' too – so think for a while about the pictures you want to create. Feel free to bring along any hobbies or items that you might want to include eg. Musical instruments, dance/sportswear, skateboards, kiddies dressing-up outfits, even family pets are welcome. What shall I wear? The main thing with clothing for most people is to be comfortable and be yourself. Wear clothing in keeping with the style of portrait you wish to create. Smart casuals suit fun relaxed pictures, whereas smarter clothing will create a more formal look. Its important to be happy with what you are wearing. We will often ask you to remove shoes and socks (if appropriate). Please visit our GALLERY to get some ideas. What happens after the session? After your session we will arrange a viewing appointment for you to return and choose your favourites from the portrait session. If possible, please make alternative arrangements for your children. They can be distracting for you during the viewing as you may need to think carefully about the various mounting and framing options available to you.
